01.12.06: a happy friday

christmas.jpgwow.  december first.  already.  eek.  (btw, it just took me three tries and a quick  search on google to assure myself that i spelled december right.  and i just got it wrong again with that last one...it's a good thing and a bad thing when you realize how much your english has deteriorated and converted into spanglish).  the good news is it's finally turning chilly, meaning i can start wearing the big warm and comforting jackets i have stored away since now, and that the lights of christmas are now cheerfully welcoming the citizens of barcelona at every corner.  ahh, the spirit of the catalan christmas.

i've got a whole week of vacation planned next week, which makes for a very happy friday evening.  the plan...relax in the city until tuesday, head up to andorra for a night and a day, where unfortunately we're still anxiously awaiting the first snowfall, and then four days in toulouse in the south of france, where our french basque friend has promised to cook us authentic basque chicken and some kind of tarta that he claims is exquisite.  and, i feel it necessary to add, the chicken he will cook will be one of the ones he currently has clucking around his yard.  soo...it will truly be, the real thing.

not much else to say today...am here at work, waiting for the andorran to finish up some emails before the vacation starts, so felt like popping in to say hallo.  so...hallo!  =)

btw, buika got a rave review in thursday's la vanguardia...(in my attempt to translate into english), "concha buika is, without a doubt, an out of the ordinary singer, with a strong and smoky voice, always at the brink of breaking from within".   you go girl.

I feel your pain on the English spelling. I'm haunted by the memory of the nuns who taught me how to spell in English...because that ability is long gone.

If I go back and edit, I find the mistakes. But let this brain just flow these days and it'l flow phonetically. ;)
