23.08.05: sand from the sahara
as i´ve mentioned in my last couple posts, it´s been a rainy august here in bcn. the rain that falls not only comes in and out in dramatic fashion, but also leaves the cars covered in a layer of yellow dust that makes them all look just plain dirty. but i just learned last week that the yellow dust is sand from the sahara, and that has changed everything for me. this dust has made such a long journey to get here and from such an exotic, legendary location that i don´t feel quite justified in groaning about the states of the cars. it´s sand from the sahara, for goodness sakes!
another random fact...apparently, there are very few works in spanish that start with the letter, ´k´. in the "concise oxford spanish dictionary", the k section takes up only half a page, with half the words being "kilo"-something and the other bulk having some ethnic or cultural significance, such as "Kleenex", "kamikaze", ¨kitsch", ¨Kuwait", "K.O." and "kiwi". how cool, this means i know a whole letter group of spanish words.
sorry, feeling lazy about pics. they will come...eventually.
