2005.05.20: wandering women

discovered this fantastic blog from an american women living in salamanca that captures the beauty and idiosyncracies of life in spain much better than me:

a wandering woman writes from spain

it is comforting to find consistency in the experiences and observations that we as two complete strangers have had here.  and her delightfully noted observations have made me realize that i´ve been losing focus on the reason i started a blog in the first place, which is to capture in words and images the essence of my experience overseas.  these past couple of weeks,  i have walked through the streets of barcelona with my eyes straight ahead, intent on reaching my destination, rather than up and down  in order to soak in the energy of my surroundings.  the beauty of life in this amazing city has been escaping me as my days normalize and patterns are set and followed.  so my goal this weekend, which looks to be sunny, warm, and enjoyable as always, is to re-energize my senses and re-focus on the fun of musing about spain, not simply in spain.  my eyes will be wide open.
